Based on stereotypes, people perceive boys as stronger and less vulnerable than girls. “Boys,” we say, “are tough!” But the truth is that boys are vulnerable, and they face some heightened health risks compared to girls. Three times more boys than girls are killed each day, and countless more are injured. Despite these risks to boys, parents are often less concerned about the safety of their sons than of their daughters.
