Teen Pregnancy Prevention and Education

At present, there are more than 400,000 teen pregnancies in the United States each year. The overwhelming majority of these are unplanned and preventable. On average, children of teen mothers have lower performance in school and are more likely to become teen parents themselves. Comprehensive sex education, including both abstinence education and access to contraceptives, can reduce the number of unintended teen pregnancies. Join Nurse Rona and guests as they discuss how to talk to teens about sex, pregnancy, and the responsibilities of becoming a parent:

Jeffrey M. Gould, MDiv, training and curriculum coordinator for the TeenAge Program at Family, Maternal, and Child Health Contra Costa Health Services and Adolescent Health Services of Contra Costa’s Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy Program (PAP).
